Job Summary

The Unit Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the unit, working closely with the Unit Manager to maintain a safe and efficient environment. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills, with a focus on providing exceptional care to residents and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with leadership to establish long-term goals and plans for the facility.
  • Assist with monitoring and controlling unit expenditures.
  • Perform staffing and scheduling activities to ensure minimum staffing standards are met.
  • Complete quality audits, logs, and checklists as assigned.
  • Provide staff education, consultation, and oversight based on facility policy and regulatory guidance.
  • Assist with providing documentation oversight to ensure accurate and complete documentation of care.
  • Promote continuity of care by reporting activities, incidents, and changing resident needs or condition to the supervisor.
  • Demonstrate infection prevention behaviors and implement prevention plans for falls, skin breakdown, and injury.
  • Coordinate resident appointments and transportation needs.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, room changes, hospital transfers, or returns as needed.
  • Ensure safe and correct receiving of medications from pharmacies and distribute accordingly.
  • Oversee medical supply inventory and ordering of supplies.
  • Conduct rounds throughout the shift to ensure quality resident care.
  • Communicate with residents, family members, and other disciplines or healthcare professionals as appropriate.
  • Assist with monitoring Nurse and Nurse Assistant documentation and provide feedback for correction.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and regulations on the unit.
Requirements
  • Current LPN license by the Mississippi Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting, and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position.
  • Ability to lift and carry in excess of 50 pounds.
