Description:

As a key member of the Iredell Health System team, the Director of Organizational Development and Staff Education will be responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating all short- and long-range programs related to organizational development and staff education. This includes strategic responsibility for planning, directing, and supervising operational functions such as staffing, orientation, leadership development, staff education, and competency.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a related field from an accredited institution, required
  • BLS certification required
  • Licensed in the State of North Carolina in the respective discipline, if required
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of leadership experience in staff education or organizational development, preferred
  • Ability to analyze information and recommend solutions
  • Strong leadership and communications skills
  • Ability to apply creative and innovative solutions to problems

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Must possess a full range of body motion to pass a basic FIT test, including bending, stooping, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds

Job-Specific Standards:

  1. Leads the identification, development, and implementation of organizational development strategies and interventions associated with organizational goals and objectives
  2. Provides training and development to enhance employee skills and knowledge, including recommending and evaluating outside training resources
  3. Performs and/or coordinates orientation for new employees and leadership orientation for new leaders
  4. Provides leadership and oversight to ensure an effective organization-wide staff education program, formulating an annual plan for management and staff education
  5. Conducts IHS organizational learning needs assessment and develops and implements plans for program development and expansion to address learning gaps
  6. Conducts IHS learning gap analysis and develops improvement goals and programs consistent with findings
  7. Ensures nursing and clinical policies, procedures, and forms related to education are current and based on evidence
  8. Coordinates the maintenance of continuing education requirements within the State of North Carolina for Nursing, Laboratory, Occupational Therapy, Respiratory, and other designated positions
  9. Provides administrative and financial accountability for planning, directing, staffing, coordinating, and controlling functions and activities, delegating authority as necessary
  10. Manages and meets financial performance targets, including revenue performance and controls spending of departmental budget
  11. Understands regulatory compliance issues affecting the system and department, including OSHA, DCF, TJC, EEOC, CDC, AHCA, etc., and ensures departments and personnel maintain compliance at all times
  12. Understands and accepts the continual nature of change associated with the healthcare environment and the importance of remaining flexible to meet changing demands and assist staff to understand change
  13. Sets and maintains the highest levels of service to patients, family members, visitors, physicians, and other hospital departments, promptly investigating and appropriately responding to patient, visitor, and physician complaints
  14. Develops, coordinates, and adapts system-wide leadership, licensed, and unlicensed staff development programs
