Job Summary

Rutgers University seeks a highly qualified Chief Economist and Assistant or Associate Professor of Public Policy to join our esteemed faculty. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development of innovative research and policy solutions that drive positive change in the field of labor economics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and collaborate on externally-funded research projects analyzing and evaluating U.S. labor market trends, policy interventions, and programs.
  • Teach courses in the Master of Public Policy and the school's Ph.D. program and undergraduate programs in the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy.
  • Develop and maintain a strong research profile, publishing refereed research in high-impact journals and presenting at national conferences.
  • Secure and complete external grant-funded research, supervising doctoral students and postdoctoral associates.
  • Network with external stakeholders and communicate research findings to the public through various channels.
Requirements
  • Hold a doctorate in economics, public policy, or a related discipline with a focus on workforce, education, and social policies and programs.
  • Have a clearly established research profile and a strong track record of published empirical research and externally funded research projects.
  • Demonstrate direct experiences and skills in the use of statistical and econometric methods to examine and evaluate public policies, using complex data.
  • Exhibit potential for excellence in teaching, with knowledge of inclusive and active teaching practices.
