Job Description

The Senior Director of Human Resources is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department and setting long-term goals, policies, and procedures for CT transit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in all aspects of Human Resources, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, offboarding, professional development, and compliance training.
  • Manage employee relations issues, including conducting internal investigations and working with management to respond to complaints under the EEO policy.
  • Oversee the recruitment process for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, including conducting background investigations and performing reference checks.
  • Develop and implement personnel policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Manage the HRIS system, personnel/medical files, and records, and provide guidance on employee benefits and changes of employee status.
  • Represent the company in unemployment claims and attend hearings and appeals.
  • Participate in administration staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, HRIS, Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional, full-time senior leadership/management experience in Human Resources.
  • Experience supervising other employees and working in a union environment is preferred.
  • Proficient in software programs, Internet applications, and utilization of relevant business equipment.
