Sonographer - Radiology Diagnostics - Casual/PRN

Position Overview:

This role is classified as casual/PRN, meaning that the employee will work on an 'as needed' basis to fulfill the operational requirements of the organization. The work schedule may vary significantly from week to week.

Typical Work Hours:

Shifts will be varied and may include on-call duties, weekend shifts, and possible holiday coverage.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary duty is to deliver diagnostic patient care services utilizing ultrasound technology and associated diagnostic methods.

  • Ensure high-quality exam performance.
  • Manage workflow efficiently.
  • Utilize systems and software effectively.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Engage in clinical enrichment activities.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Deliver care that enhances the patient experience.

Work Schedule:

This position operates on a casual/PRN basis, with a schedule that may include varied shifts, on-call duties, weekends, and holiday coverage.

Qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • Must be registered or board eligible with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Completion of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program is required.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in general and vascular Sonography is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is strongly preferred at the time of hire and required within three months of hire.
  • ARDMS registration or board eligibility is mandatory.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential must be obtained within one year of employment.
  • Preferred credentials include RDMS in Abdomen (AD) and OB/GYN.
  • Participation in mandatory in-services and continuing education as required by policies and supervisors is expected.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective communication and interaction skills with patients, families, and healthcare personnel are essential.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously is required.
  • Attendance at mandatory in-services and continuing education programs is required.
  • Must adhere to established Universal Standards and Radiation Safety protocols.
  • Flexibility to accommodate changes in daily schedules, including overtime and on-call responsibilities, is necessary.
