Position Overview:
This role is classified as casual/PRN, meaning that employees are called upon as needed to fulfill operational requirements. The work schedule may fluctuate weekly based on the demands of the facility.
Typical Work Hours:
Shifts may vary, including on-call duties, weekend work, and potential holiday assignments.
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality ultrasound examinations.
- Manage workflow efficiently.
- Utilize systems such as Cerner.
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
- Engage in clinical enrichment activities.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Ensure an optimal patient care experience.
Position Details:
This is a casual/PRN role with variable shifts that may include on-call responsibilities and weekend work.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- Must be registered or board eligible with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Completion of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program is required.
Experience Requirements:
- Preferred: At least one year of experience in general and vascular sonography.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is strongly preferred at the time of hire and required within three months.
- ARDMS registration or board eligibility is mandatory.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential must be obtained within one year of employment.
- Preferred credentials include RDMS in Abdomen (AD) and OB/GYN.
- Participation in mandatory inservices and continuing education as required by policies and procedures.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness to attend required inservices and educational programs.
- Knowledge of Universal Standards and Radiation Safety protocols.
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in the daily schedule, including potential overtime and on-call duties.
Physical Demands:
- Medium Work - Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force.
Job Hazards:
- Exposure to various job-related hazards may occur, but are generally infrequent.
