Sonographer - Radiology Diagnostics - Casual/PRN

Position Overview:

This role is classified as casual/PRN, meaning the employee will work on an as-needed basis to fulfill the operational requirements of the organization. The work schedule may vary significantly from week to week.

Typical Work Schedule:

Shifts will vary, including on-call duties, weekend work, and potential holiday coverage.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conducting high-quality diagnostic examinations.
  • Managing workflow efficiently.
  • Utilizing systems such as Cerner.
  • Adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Engaging in clinical enrichment activities.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Ensuring optimal patient care and experience.

Job Requirements:

Educational Qualifications:

  • Must be registered or board eligible with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Completion of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in general and vascular sonography is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is strongly preferred at the time of hire and required within three months of hire.
  • ARDMS registration or board eligibility is mandatory.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential must be obtained within one year of employment.
  • Preferred RDMS credentials in Abdomen (AD) and OB/GYN.
  • Participation in mandatory in-services and continuing education as required by policies and procedures.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Commitment to attending required in-services and educational programs.
  • Adherence to established safety protocols and standards.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in the daily schedule, including overtime and on-call duties.

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium work capacity, requiring the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force.
