Clinical Laboratory Scientist II Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist II to join our team at Contra Costa County, CA. As a licensed scientist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of professional clinical laboratory procedures and ensuring the technical accuracy of bacteriological, hematological, biochemical, serological, coagulation, and transfusion tests.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform clinical laboratory procedures in clinical chemistry, microbiology, hematology, immunohematology, urinalysis, and phlebotomy
- Operate and maintain manual equipment and automated, computer-controlled equipment
- Maintain quality control statistical data
- Draw blood for laboratory testing and process specimens
- Report patients' test results verbally and in writing to members of the medical and nursing staffs
- Stain and interpret blood smears and other biological specimens
- Type and crossmatch blood for transfusion
- Prepare laboratory reagents
- Monitor supply inventories
- Maintain laboratory logs and records
- Possession of a valid license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist issued by the California State Department of Health Services
- One (1) year of full-time (or the equivalent) experience as a licensed scientist in a clinical laboratory performing varied clinical tests and analyses
Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process. The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
After you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you have received a conditional job offer.
