Senior Scientist I-II – Discovery Chemistry – Conjugation

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Scientist I-II to join our Discovery Chemistry Department as part of a dynamic team driving success in RNA-based drug discovery projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in bioconjugation, purification, and analytical techniques, with a proven track record of generating high-quality data in a fast-paced research environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize conjugation protocols using novel chemistries and techniques.
  • Perform bioconjugation, purification, and characterization of novel conjugates involving oligonucleotides and other modalities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project success and generate regular status updates.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports and presentations for internal project teams, leadership, and external audiences.
  • Maintain updated and well-organized lab notebooks and manage equipment, reagents, and the dedicated laboratory environment.
  • Execute daily chemistry operations with an approach designed to minimize risks and hazardous waste streams.
  • Maintain all appropriate corporate standards for lab safety and hazardous material management.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience in bioconjugation.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern bioconjugation methods, purification, and analytical techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with oligonucleotide bioconjugation; previous experience in peptide and antibody-drug conjugation is preferred.
  • Proficiency in purification techniques such as RP-HPLC, FPLC, size exclusion chromatography (SEC), and ion exchange chromatography (IEX).
  • Strong background in the analytical characterization of oligonucleotide conjugates, especially RP-HPLC and LC-MS.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and effective presentation of complex scientific data.
  • Superior laboratory skills and awareness of laboratory safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
  • A track-record of impacting drug discovery programs through driving projects to key decision points.
  • Broad knowledge of scientific experience with track record of scientific achievement demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications.
