**Job Summary**

The City and County of San Francisco is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Institutional Police Lieutenant to lead the law enforcement program at City College of San Francisco. As a sworn Peace Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the total operation of the law enforcement program, supervising subordinate staff, and enforcing laws and regulations within the jurisdiction of the San Francisco Community College District Police Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the law enforcement program, including patrol procedures, investigations, and evidence collection and preservation.
  • Enforce laws, rules, and regulations, and conduct investigations as needed.
  • Supervise and evaluate personnel, including ensuring compliance with district policies and procedures.
  • Plan, assign, direct, and coordinate the activities and schedules of personnel assigned to the law enforcement program.
  • Direct the enforcement of city, county, and state laws and ordinances, including applicable provisions of the Penal Code, Vehicle Code, and Welfare and Institutions Code.
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others, including campus administration, faculty, students, and local public safety agencies.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in police science, criminology, public administration, or related field.
  • Two years of experience in progressive law enforcement leadership management, including experience as a lead in a public safety position.
  • Four years of experience as a police officer, member of a military police unit, or other work involving the safeguarding of life and property.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license.
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Effective experience planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising assigned work.
  • Ability to work effectively with others to achieve common goals.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Good proficiency operating a computer and assigned office equipment.
  • High proficiency with MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Human relation skills to resolve confrontation, affect behavior of others, facilitate small group processes, supervise the work of others, and review performance.
