This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the City and County of San Francisco as an Institutional Police Officer. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order within and surrounding City College campuses and other district sites.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Respond to emergencies on District property in a professional and courteous manner.
- Enforce state and local ordinances, rules, and regulations related to the San Francisco Community College District.
- Provide assistance and/or first aid as needed.
- Perform traffic control and investigate traffic collisions.
- Issue verbal warnings or citations for violations observed.
- Patrol assigned areas in a marked patrol vehicle and/or on foot.
- Provide money escorts upon request on District property.
- Conduct investigations of various crimes committed, interview suspects, victims, and witnesses, and make arrests as necessary.
- Testify and present evidence in court as necessary.
- Assist in the event of natural disasters and other extraordinary circumstances.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience as a police officer, member of a military police unit, or other work involving the safeguarding of life and property.
- Possession of a valid California Driver License.
- Possession of a Basic P.O.S.T. Certificate (issued by California Department of Justice, Commission of Peace Officers Standards and Training).
- Certificate of completion from a P.O.S.T. academy.
- Completion of 60 units of college credits preferably in the Administration of Justice field.
- Two years of verifiable work experience.
- One year of law enforcement experience.
- Specialized training in law enforcement, security, or related field.
- Experience in working within an educational setting, preferably in community colleges.
