Position Overview:

Sovah Health - Martinsville is currently seeking a PRN Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist responsible for the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals and other medications, conducting diagnostic studies as per physician directives.

  • Administers radiopharmaceuticals and medications for imaging and therapeutic procedures.
  • Utilizes advanced computer technology to process data and enhance digital images.
  • Provides essential images, data analysis, and patient information for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Evaluates images to ensure technical quality and proper calibration of equipment.
  • Processes images for review by radiologists.
  • Determines the appropriate techniques for analog and digital display systems, employing background suppression and other processing methods.
  • Operates various radiation detection devices and imaging equipment.
  • Conducts routine quality control checks on imaging instruments and addresses any malfunctions.
  • Maintains accurate records related to radioactive materials and manages inventory in designated areas.
  • Participates in contamination surveys and decontamination processes as necessary.

Educational Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or the Nuclear Medicine Certification Board, or an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong critical thinking abilities and sound judgment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Nuclear Regulatory Commission and state regulations.
  • Compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations regarding nuclear medicine.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Physical capability to move and lift patients and equipment, with a maximum weight of 50 pounds.
  • Corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges are required.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and adapt to varying conditions.
  • Reasonable accommodations will be made for applicants with disabilities as required by law.

Certifications Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine, with additional certification in Radiography preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in diagnostic radiology technology with nuclear medicine training, or a graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
