Position Overview:
Sovah Health - Martinsville is in search of a PRN Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist who will be responsible for the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals and other medications to patients, executing diagnostic studies as per physician directives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals and medications for imaging and therapeutic procedures.
- Utilize advanced computer technology to process data and enhance digital images.
- Provide images, data analysis, and patient information for diagnostic interpretation or therapeutic procedures.
- Evaluate images to ensure technical quality and proper calibration of equipment.
- Process images for radiologist review.
- Determine the appropriate techniques for analog and digital display systems, employing background suppression or subtraction, region of interest, and time activity curve processing.
- Operate radiation detection devices, SPECT cameras, data processing units, and other relevant imaging equipment.
- Conduct daily and quarterly Quality Control checks on all imaging and measurement instruments, reporting any malfunctions.
- Maintain records related to the receipt, dispensation, and disposal of radioactive materials, ensuring an accurate inventory of supplies.
- Participate in nuclear medicine laboratory surveys for contamination and execute decontamination processes as necessary.
Educational Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited educational program in Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiologic Technology.
Essential Skills:
- Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment are essential, with the ability to work independently.
- Proficient knowledge of Nuclear Regulatory Commission and State regulations.
- Compliance with all State and Federal regulations regarding nuclear medicine materials is mandatory.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and respond appropriately.
- Physical capability to move and/or lift patients and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with the dexterity and coordination required for the role.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges are required.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and work under stressful conditions.
- Willingness to adhere to body substance isolation precautions.
Certifications Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine, with additional certification in Radiography preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of one year of experience in diagnostic radiology technology with training in nuclear medicine, or graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
