Brownsville ISD seeks a highly skilled Dyslexia Program Specialist to provide leadership in Dyslexia and related disorders. The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree and a valid Texas Teacher's Certificate, with three years of experience in Dyslexia teaching.

**Required Qualifications:**
  • Master's Degree
  • Valid Texas Teacher's Certificate
  • Three years Dyslexia teaching experience

**Preferred Qualifications:**
  • Certified Academic Language Practitioner/Therapist
  • Degree in Education or Curriculum & Instruction
  • Experience as Dyslexia Teacher in Elementary and Secondary
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of dyslexia and related disorders
  • Knowledge of curriculum planning, testing and evaluation
  • Knowledge of Objective-Based Curriculum System
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in in-service training
  • Experience in effecting teaching research

**Job Summary:**
The Dyslexia Program Specialist will provide leadership in Dyslexia and related disorders, prescribing techniques and procedures to ensure compliance with local and state policies and guidelines. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with experience in in-service training and effecting teaching research.

**Responsibilities:**
  • Supervise and monitor district-wide dyslexia curriculum/program implementation and instruction in the dyslexia lab setting
  • Assist dyslexia teachers with needed and/or required classroom instruction and resources
  • Mentor new dyslexia teachers
  • Offer expertise in dyslexia instructional strategies
  • Monitor development and implementation of appropriate and effective individual accommodation plans
  • Assist with campus level staff development
