Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Inclusion Science Teacher to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a flexible program and a learning environment that fosters personal growth and development in students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students with special needs.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, assignments, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Evaluate the learning progress of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Administer standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues concerning students' academic, social, and behavioral progress.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Current New Mexico teaching certificate endorsed in the area(s) to be taught.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of APS community, computer systems, financial procedures, and legal requirements.
