Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Science Teacher to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. As a Special Education Science Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs and abilities of students with special needs.
  • Design and deliver engaging science lessons that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific literacy.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and other support personnel to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student learning.
  • Provide regular progress updates to parents and guardians, and work closely with them to address any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research, best practices, and technologies in special education and science education to ensure that your teaching practices are evidence-based and effective.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Science Education, or a related field.
  • New Mexico teaching certificate endorsed in the area of special education and science.
  • Experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a public school setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, and support staff.
