Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching math and science to 6th grade students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a flexible and engaging program that meets the individual needs of students.
  • Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement the district program of instruction.
  • Plan and implement lessons that integrate the affective, cognitive, and psychomotor dimensions of learning.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure student success.
  • Assess student progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Current New Mexico teaching certificate endorsed in Special Education.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and adapt to changing circumstances.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with students with special needs.
  • Knowledge of curriculum standards and instructional strategies.
  • Ability to use technology to enhance teaching and learning.
