Job Summary

As a Field Service Technician at Genuine Parts Company, you will be responsible for providing top-notch mechanical service to meet the needs of our customers. Whether it's repairing and installing conveyor belts or maintaining mechanical equipment, you will cater to the needs of our customers to keep their industry in motion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site belt installation, splicing, and preventative maintenance, as well as occasional emergency repairs.
  • Fabricate lightweight and/or heavyweight belts in the shop.
  • Perform rigging to facilitate the lifting of belt rolls, presses, and tooling on and off conveyor systems.
  • Perform basic millwright tasks, such as torch heating and cutting, as well as removal and installation of conveyor components.
  • Serve as the customer contact for technical and service-related issues.
  • Work under direct supervision and follow detailed guidelines to work on moderately complex repairs and installations.
  • Ensure that processes and environmental conditions comply with local and national regulatory agencies, and company safety standards.
Requirements
  • A technical degree and zero to three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.
  • Ability to read measuring and equipment, and perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to operate shop equipment safely.
  • Ability to operate manlifts, forklifts, hand power tools, and shop equipment safely.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with customers, peers, and management to resolve client issues.
Working Conditions

Working conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor, with a noise level that may be loud at times. Requires wearing safety equipment and safety harness.
