Surgical Technologist Job Description

Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team in Paeonian Springs, Virginia.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist surgeons and other medical professionals during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring the smooth operation of the operating room.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order and readily available for use.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure the safe and efficient conduct of surgical procedures, including communicating with the anesthesiologist and other team members as needed.
  • Participate in preoperative and postoperative patient care, including preparing patients for surgery and assisting with their recovery.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, including documenting patient information, surgical procedures, and any complications or issues that arise during surgery.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest surgical techniques, technologies, and best practices, participating in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • At least one year of experience as a Surgical Technologist or in a related role is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
