Job Summary

The Surgical Technologist 2 will demonstrate advanced knowledge and practice in the role of the first scrub, ensuring aseptic and surgical techniques are maintained throughout the procedure. This individual will work collaboratively with the surgical team to provide exceptional patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgeon and other team members in preparing for and executing surgical procedures.
  • Maintain a sterile field and apply principles of asepsis to ensure patient safety.
  • Collaborate with the circulating nurse to anticipate patient care needs and expedites the operative procedure.
  • Participate in preceptor role for new and experienced staff in the scrub role.
  • Document evidence of self-development activities and participate in unit-based committees to improve patient care and unit-based issues.
Requirements
  • Certification in Basic Life Support upon start.
  • Eligibility for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire.
  • 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience or equivalent.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
