Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Surgical Technologist to work in our operating room. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in surgical techniques, anatomy, and asepsis. As a Surgical Technologist 2, you will be responsible for assisting surgeons during procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons during surgical procedures, ensuring the sterile field is maintained and the necessary instruments are available.
  • Collaborate with the circulating nurse to ensure seamless communication and coordination during procedures.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and expedites the operative procedure.
  • Establish and maintain a well-organized sterile field, applying principles of asepsis to prevent infection.
  • Participate in preceptorship and training of new staff members in the scrub role.
  • Document evidence of self-development activities, including at least 20 hours of formal contact hours.
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support certification upon start.
  • Eligibility for Surgical Technologist registration via the Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist or equivalent.
