Position Overview

The Senior Plastic Extrusion Operator at America Plastics LLC will report directly to the Production Manager. This role is pivotal in overseeing the extruder team, ensuring adherence to production schedules, and conducting thorough inspections of materials and finished products to guarantee compliance with quality standards. The Senior Operator has honed their expertise through hands-on experience with various machinery, troubleshooting, and mentoring team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively participate in the onboarding and training of new extruder personnel according to the established training protocols.

• Maintain accurate production documentation and ensure that team members complete records correctly.

• Conduct daily inspections and audits of finished goods prior to shipment.

• Propose enhancements to production techniques, machinery efficiency, and product quality.

• Monitor and evaluate the performance of team members.

• Provide coverage for team members during breaks, absences, or vacations.

• Uphold high standards of cleanliness and organization in the production area, engaging all extruder staff in this effort.

• Identify, investigate, and resolve any nonconformities related to products, processes, and quality systems.

• Review production schedules, work orders, and reports to assess production needs and current workloads.

• Develop and implement cost-effective strategies to enhance productivity and employee morale while minimizing waste.

• Collaborate closely with the Maintenance department to schedule equipment upkeep at optimal times to reduce downtime and maximize output.

• Create strategies to effectively utilize personnel and resources.

• Interpret and enforce company policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures.

• Analyze and address work-related issues, assisting management in problem-solving.

• Foster a positive, respectful, and open line of communication with team members.

  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Must be available to work rotating 12-hour shifts, with a schedule of 3 or 4 consecutive day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:15 PM followed by 3 or 4 consecutive night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:15 AM. Overtime is available but not mandatory.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Documented authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Basic math and measurement skills are required.
  • Familiarity with good manufacturing practices is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency in English, including oral, reading, and writing skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with fluctuating temperatures and exposure to dust and noise for 12-hour shifts.
  • Prolonged standing on concrete surfaces; frequent walking; occasional bending and squatting.
  • Frequent reaching and repetitive use of wrists, hands, and fingers.
Compensation

$15 - $20 per hour based on experience in plastics.
