GENERAL OVERVIEW

This position entails performing advanced grounds and facility maintenance tasks. Responsibilities include the upkeep and repair of buildings and surrounding areas, utility systems, stationary machinery, and landscaping within the Headquarters complex, ensuring a tidy, secure, and visually appealing environment. The role operates under minimal supervision, allowing for independent decision-making and initiative.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Execute skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work, including preventive upkeep and repairs of buildings and equipment related to plumbing, masonry, painting, and more.

2. Manage the mowing, trimming, fertilizing, and watering of all grass, shrubs, and trees using various equipment such as mowers, tractors, and power tools.

3. Clear leaves, weeds, and debris from the grounds, while planting and maintaining trees, flowers, and shrubs to uphold the aesthetic appeal of the campus.

4. Operate a range of gas and diesel-powered machinery for tasks such as mowing, trimming, and snow/ice management as necessary.

5. Conduct inspections and perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on tools, equipment, and facilities to ensure safe and efficient operations.

6. Assist in relocating furniture and materials as needed.

7. Install and maintain irrigation systems, support plumbing tasks, and manage watering schedules as required.

8. Apply fertilizers and pesticides as necessary, following safety protocols and best practices.

9. Adhere to established methods and schedules for completing work orders and promptly report any issues regarding buildings or grounds.

10. Document work performed, including time spent, materials used, and tasks completed.

11. Participate in recycling initiatives as required.

12. Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to guide maintenance tasks.

13. Maintain regular attendance and adhere to approved work hours.

14. Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience: At least one year of experience in building maintenance or trades, with proficiency in at least one area such as plumbing, carpentry, or landscaping.

Licensure: A valid driver’s license is required if driving is part of the job. A non-commercial pesticide applicator license may be necessary.

Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant regulations and maintenance practices, including the safe use of tools and equipment.

Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and analytical thinking are essential for success in this role.

Physical Requirements: The role involves working in various environments, including outdoors, and requires physical stamina for tasks such as lifting and moving heavy objects.

Note: Employees may be required to travel and work outside of regular hours as needed.
