Job Summary:

The Maintenance and Facilities Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness and operational condition of all school and parish buildings and equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of maintenance and repair techniques, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, heating, and cooling systems.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision, follow direction, and prioritize tasks effectively. They will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, cleaning, and servicing all equipment, fixtures, buildings, and properties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair all equipment, fixtures, buildings, and properties to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
  • Set up rooms for events in the parish activity center, including arranging furniture and equipment.
  • Assist with seasonal decorations in the church, school, and parish activity center, ensuring a welcoming and festive atmosphere.
  • Keep the school and parish grounds clean, including picking up debris, pressure washing, maintaining floor mats, and other cleaning tasks.
  • Lift up to 80 pounds and climb ladders up to 30 feet, as well as operate common hand and power tools.
  • Assist in maintaining a secure campus during the school day, ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3 years' general maintenance experience
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Ability to proficiently communicate in English (conversing, reading, and writing)
  • Basic operating skills of a computer (email, work order management, internet, etc.)
Working Conditions:
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
  • Work on weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
  • Be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech, including Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations.
  • Adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
  • May be required to use personal or parish vehicles to drive to off-site locations.
  • Travel within and outside the parish to meetings and other events may be required, and travel may include overnight lodging.
