Job Overview

Position Summary

The role of the Parking Compliance Officer is essential in ensuring adherence to parking regulations and standards set forth by the municipality.

This position operates under direct supervision and follows established protocols.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the primary responsibilities associated with this position. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.


Core Responsibilities:

Strives to effectively balance and meet the expectations of community stakeholders.

Contributes to the objectives of the department by consistently aiming to fulfill strategic goals.

Utilizes a handheld device to document and issue citations for parking infractions.

Operates and maintains a designated parking enforcement vehicle.

Assists with maintenance and collection tasks related to parking meters as required.

Facilitates the immobilization of vehicles belonging to repeat offenders in accordance with municipal regulations and departmental guidelines. Requests towing services when necessary and completes all required documentation.


Additional Duties:

Conducts patrols of parking facilities as necessary.

Performs related tasks as assigned.

Responsible for entering or posting data accurately.

People interaction includes engaging with co-workers, other agency personnel, and the public.

Provides assistance to customers, addressing their inquiries and exchanging information.

Minimal responsibility for low-cost items or supplies.


Mathematical Skills:

Mathematical skills involve the application of basic arithmetic to solve problems.

Utilizes basic addition and subtraction for tasks such as making change.


Communication Skills:

Communication skills encompass the ability to read, write, and speak effectively.

Reads and comprehends simple instructions; writes clear and concise sentences; communicates effectively using basic grammar.


Judgment and Decision-Making:

Judgment refers to the ability to make decisions based on established guidelines.

Responsible for guiding others with some decision-making that impacts the individual and a few colleagues.


Work Complexity:

Work complexity addresses the level of analysis and creativity required.

Performs semi-skilled tasks following set procedures, with occasional challenges requiring focused attention.


Error Impact:

Error impact refers to the consequences of mistakes made in the role.

Errors have minor impacts, affecting only those in the immediate work area.


Physical Requirements:

Physical requirements involve the exertion of force and coordination.

Engages in light physical work, primarily walking or standing, with the ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force regularly.


Equipment Handling:

Equipment handling involves the use of tools and devices relevant to the job.

Responsible for selecting appropriate work aids to achieve set standards.


Safety Considerations:

Safety considerations refer to the inherent risks associated with the job.

Regular exposure to traffic conditions.


Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.

No prior experience is necessary.


Certifications:

Valid Driver's License is required.
