Criminal Investigation Archaeologist

Position Overview: The Criminal Investigation Archaeologist will offer specialized scientific and professional knowledge to SNA International, engaging in a range of responsibilities aimed at recovering and analyzing materials from historical conflicts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct forensic and archaeological laboratory assessments, designing and executing analyses of various materials linked to historical military conflicts.
- Utilize advanced spatial analysis tools, including ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Surfer, and GoogleEarthPro, to visualize and manage data effectively.
- Act as a scientific decision-maker, developing and refining archaeological strategies for site excavation and evidence processing.
- Travel extensively to recovery sites, which may involve challenging and remote environments.
- Employ expertise in human remains identification and various excavation techniques to recover and preserve skeletal and dental remains, as well as material evidence.
- Draft, implement, and adhere to standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with organizational protocols.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (M.A./M.S. or Ph.D.) in archaeology, anthropology, or a related discipline.
- Proven leadership experience with a minimum of one year in a supervisory role within archaeological resource studies.
- Extensive experience in Phase III terrestrial recovery of human remains.
- At least one year of professional experience or equivalent specialized training in archaeological research or management.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience in fieldwork and analytical practices in general archaeology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth understanding of forensic and archaeological laboratory analysis methodologies.
- Expertise in directing and supervising all phases of archaeological projects, including mapping techniques.
- Ability to analyze materials related to the identification of service members from past conflicts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform tasks under high-pressure conditions and meet tight deadlines.
- Capability to endure extreme climatic conditions and navigate challenging terrains.
- Physical stamina to carry equipment and perform manual labor over extended periods.
