We are currently seeking a permanent, full-time position within the DEPARTMENT OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL.
Position Overview:
The Senior Investigative Officer is responsible for the strategic planning, organization, and coordination of an investigative agency that focuses on civil, administrative, and/or criminal inquiries within its jurisdiction. This role may involve conducting investigations across various jurisdictions, including state departments, federal agencies, and regulatory boards, addressing a wide range of program areas such as welfare fraud and controlled substances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough investigations into technology-facilitated child exploitation and internet crimes against children.
- Analyze complaints and allegations, gather evidence, and interview witnesses.
- Prepare detailed reports and present findings clearly and concisely.
- Maintain surveillance and perform undercover operations as necessary.
- Ensure proper handling of evidence and conduct arrests in accordance with legal standards.
Qualifications:
Basic Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Specialized Experience:
A minimum of three and a half (3-1/2) years of progressively responsible investigative experience, demonstrating:
A. Initiative and resourcefulness in gathering and developing facts;
B. Ability to analyze and evaluate evidence logically;
C. Proficiency in written and oral communication of investigative findings;
D. Tact and discretion in obtaining cooperation from others.
Quality of Experience:
At least one (1) year of specialized experience must be comparable to the Investigator IV level in state service, involving complex investigations and evidence gathering.
Selective Certification Requirement:
Applicants must possess knowledge of investigative techniques, legal evidence rules, and the ability to conduct criminal investigations effectively.
Special Requirements:
Applicants must meet all state and federal regulations regarding firearms and ammunition and must possess a valid driver’s license. A pre-employment drug test is also required.
