Job Summary

As a Senior Materials Testing Engineer at Terracon, you will be responsible for performing field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials. Your expertise will be utilized to communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, and other stakeholders regarding construction site requirements and testing results. You will also be responsible for transporting material samples to the laboratory for further analysis and preparing data for submission to the project manager. Additionally, you will maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas, and may assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites. Your strong analytical skills and attention to detail will be essential in ensuring the quality of our work and adhering to strict safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials.
  • Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, and other stakeholders regarding construction site requirements and testing results.
  • Transport material samples to the laboratory for further analysis.
  • Prepare data for submission to the project manager.
  • Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
  • Assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
  • Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications
  • NICET Level II certification in Construction Materials Testing.
  • NICET Level II certification in Geotechnical.
  • ICC certification in two or more of the following categories: Reinforced Concrete, Spray-applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, Prestressed/Post-Tensioned Concrete, Structural Steel - Bolting, Structural Steel - Welding.
  • American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II certification in more than one of the following areas: Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT).
