Aquatics Coordinator Job Description

The Salvation Army Omaha Kroc Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aquatics Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our aquatics department, you will be responsible for supervising and administering aquatics operations, coordinating programs, and ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve sustained utilization and excellence in programming.
  • Encourage a culture of excellent customer hospitality and promote events and programming.
  • Support aquatics management by requesting staff availability and developing schedules.
  • Provide substitute instruction, supervision, or lifeguarding duties as needed.
  • Support aquatics staff in responding to emergency situations and assure incident reports are completed.
  • Develop guards by encouraging skills practice and aquatics knowledge development.
  • Provide recommendations for improving procedures and policies.
  • Perform lifeguard drills and swim lesson evaluations.
  • Support aquatics management in monitoring equipment and water maintenance.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation of certifications and trainings.
  • Respond to audits and track key performance indicators.
  • Provide supervision and direction to aquatics staff in the absence of management.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in supervising aquatics facilities and programs.
  • At least 1 year of experience in teaching aquatics programs and lessons.
  • Working knowledge of general safety guidelines in aquatics environments.
Qualifications:
  • Good communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively train and develop staff.
  • English proficiency required; Spanish language skills helpful.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups.
  • Exceptional flexibility and ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Ability to collaborate and work within a team.
  • Attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong independent judgment.
  • General computer knowledge required.
Certifications and Licenses:
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification required.
  • Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
  • Current American Red Cross Water Park Skills Certification.
  • Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training.
  • Must hold a current Nebraska Pool Operator License or ability to achieve one within 90 days.
  • A current certification from the American Red Cross as Water Safety Instructor must be obtained within 90 days.
Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to swim and meet all physical capabilities required of a certified lifeguard and instructor of swimming lessons. Other physical requirements include good speaking, hearing, and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity. Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment. This position will require the ability to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds occasionally.

The majority of the workday will be in a mixed environment including offices, a well-lighted indoor pool area throughout the year while considered humid and moderately loud in nature.
