Job Title: Medical Assistant

The Certified Medical Assistant is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support in an office setting.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
  • Room patients according to established standards, setting up exam rooms to meet their needs.
  • Conduct patient interviews, take vital signs, and record information on patient charts, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients regarding preparation for tests and procedures, ensuring they are well-informed and prepared.
  • Record laboratory, x-ray, and ECG results, as well as other pertinent medical data, in patient charts.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring the doctor receives all necessary information in a timely manner.
  • Clean and stock exam rooms, including monthly instrument cleaning and sterilization, to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Handle patient telephone calls as directed by the Triage Nurse, providing excellent customer service and support.
  • Screen patient telephone calls to physicians and relay advice, information, and instructions from physicians to patients.
  • Call in prescriptions and refills to pharmacies under physician direction, ensuring accurate and timely medication management.
  • Schedule special appointments, such as referrals, surgeries, x-rays, and lab tests, and assess and schedule appointments for patients.
  • Communicate effectively with callers, patients, physicians, and other staff members, providing a high level of customer service and support.
  • Abstract medical information from patient charts into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Requirements:
  • Medical Assistant certification or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of electronic medical records.
