Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our team at Akron Children's Hospital. As a key member of our Neurodevelopmental Science Center, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to families in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and social needs, and develop individualized care plans to address these needs.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Demonstrate leadership skills by guiding and motivating other staff members to provide high-quality patient care. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Patient-Centered Care: Provide empathetic and compassionate care to patients and their families, addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Quality Improvement and Safety: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and outcomes. Identify and report potential safety risks and concerns.
  • Education and Development: Participate in education and development opportunities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills. May be responsible for precepting new employees and mentoring clinical staff.
  • Evidence-Based Practice: Apply evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes and care processes.
  • Systems-Based Practice: Understand and navigate healthcare systems to ensure efficient and effective care delivery.
  • Informatics and Technology: Utilize electronic medical records and other healthcare technologies to support patient care and documentation.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or must be obtained within 5 years from date of hire.
  • Certifications: Current certification in Basic Life Support training from the American Heart Association required. Additional certifications may be required based on assigned department or unit.
  • Licensure: Valid, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Ohio required. Multistate License (MSL) required within 90 days of hire date for departments that provide telenursing services or care to patients outside Ohio.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience preferred. Years of experience supervising: None.
