The Role

As a Senior Systems Architect at Kandji, you will leverage your expertise in macOS, Apple device management, and programming languages to design and implement powerful, automation-driven tools. You will collaborate with engineering and product teams to foster innovation and technical excellence. We are looking for a macOS specialist with a strong coding background to develop robust, API-focused frameworks and create impactful solutions that enhance user functionality.

Your Daily Contributions
  • Design, develop, and implement code-based solutions that enhance and simplify the programmatic management of Kandji and macOS.
  • Drive platform enhancements through improved application customization and streamlined interactions with existing tools.
  • Establish yourself as an expert on the codebase, leading improvements in automation, monitoring, and testing.
  • Oversee cross-functional projects, providing technical leadership based on your domain expertise.
  • Contribute to, review, and test code modifications to advance platform development.
  • Promote best practices within the team and organization; mentor colleagues through code reviews, documentation, and technical support.
  • Address identified issues and ensure solutions are implemented to maintain platform stability.
Essential Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in managing Apple devices as a Mac Administrator or Client Platform Engineer.
  • Extensive knowledge of macOS, particularly in software deployment, preference domains, and client-side MDM.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as AutoPkg, Munki, Homebrew, Packages, Mist, VMware Fusion, Veertu Anka, UTM, etc.
  • Proficient in Python, Zsh/Bash, and macOS command line utilities, with the capability to design and contribute code for new features and prototypes.
  • Solid understanding of semi-structured data types and manipulation techniques.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, object storage, automation pipelines, and GitOps practices.
  • Experience with version control, code reviews, and agile methodologies/tools.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a systematic and data-driven approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills, capable of simplifying complex topics.
  • Experience in a dynamic startup environment.
  • On-site work required for a minimum of three days a week.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with statically-typed programming languages (e.g., Swift, ObjC, Rust).
  • Familiarity with modern Python web frameworks (e.g., Django, FastAPI).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
