Job Summary

Tlingit Haida Tribal Business Corporation (THTBC) is seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Operator - Striper/Painter to join our team. As a key member of our Fort Carson Roads and Grounds Section, you will be responsible for supervising and training a paint crew of five, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment, and maintaining a high level of quality in our work.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment, including road strippers and painters, in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.
  • Supervise and train a paint crew of five, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment, performing regular checks and maintenance to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Document regular maintenance checks and equipment performance to maintain accurate records.
  • Provide preventative maintenance to ensure equipment is safe and operating properly.
  • Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality.
  • Perform minor repairs on equipment issues.
  • Report needs for larger repairs to the appropriate parties.
  • Abide by all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as all company safety procedures.
  • Commit to the overall safety of the work environment by always taking extra precautions to work with the utmost care and consideration.
  • Consistently produce high-quality products and services.
  • Complete all training within the required timeline.
  • Perform all work in a safe and secure manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two years of related experience and/or formal vocational/technical training.
  • Class A CDL or higher with no restrictions.
  • Asphalt experience is desired.
  • Operation and application of street painting is desired.
  • Knowledge of CDOT striping standards is desired.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume work area and interface in a positive manner with co-workers and the customer.
  • Ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Performs all assigned duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Displays courtesy and skill in dealing with internal and external customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Accurately maintains and updates records to enable quick and efficient retrieval of information.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must possess the ability to interact well with others in a team setting ability or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Highly motivated, flexible organized and must be detail oriented.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in precarious places and is occasionally exposed to dust and debris.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer's mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
