Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medical Technician to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Critical Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing advanced life support care to critically ill or injured patients in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and treat patients in accordance with local and University protocols.
  • Administer advanced life support care to critically ill or injured patients.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients during transportation.
  • Identify potential areas for improved care and implement changes as needed.
  • Interface effectively with peers and customers to ensure seamless communication and care.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  • No experience required, but advanced life support experience is preferred.
  • Virginia Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate or Paramedic certification required.
  • Valid Virginia Driver's License (VADL) required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
  • ACLS required.
  • PALS and Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) Level II or higher required to operate a vehicle within 90 days of hire.
Physical Demands

The job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping/traveling, climbing (ladder, steps) and driving. The employee must be able to lift/push/pull > 100lbs and be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, noise, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
