Motor Vehicle Operator

Northwell Health is seeking a skilled Motor Vehicle Operator to join our team. As a Motor Vehicle Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating a vehicle to pick up and deliver mail, supplies, and related items both on and off hospital property.
Key Responsibilities- Safe Vehicle Operation: Drive vehicle safely and in strict accordance with traffic laws, time schedules, and route assignments.
- Mail and Supply Delivery: Receive incoming hospital mail and deliver outgoing mail at the local post office.
- Supply Chain Management: Collect supplies from external locations and deliver to various hospital locations.
- Inter-Hospital Mail and Supply Transport: Receive, transport, and deliver inter-hospital mail and supplies to/from multiple locations, as requested by departments.
- Paging System: Use the paging system to receive and respond to transport requests.
- Daily Vehicle Safety Inspection: Conduct daily vehicle safety and maintenance inspection of assigned vehicle prior to beginning route.
- Customer Service: Build and maintain positive working relationships with hospital staff using principles of good customer service.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- License: Appropriate New York State Driver's License, required.
- Physical Abilities: Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, required. Manual dexterity, ability to stand, bend, lift, and/or reach for extended periods of time, required.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing) and follow oral and/or written instructions, required.
