Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team at UF Health Shands. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and providing services to hospitalized children and their families, improving their psychosocial functioning through therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the psychosocial and developmental needs of hospitalized children and their families
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to address these needs
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to improve coping skills and psychosocial functioning
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care
  • Document patient progress and outcomes
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a human service area, such as Child Life, Child Development, or Child and Family Studies
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of child and adolescent growth and development
  • Two years of experience working with children in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Certified or certificate eligible as a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) or Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous hospital experience or training
  • CCLS/CTRS certification and experience
