Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team at UF Health Shands. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and providing services to hospitalized children and their families, improving or enhancing psychosocial functioning through therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and provide services to hospitalized children and their families
  • Develop and implement therapeutic interventions to improve psychosocial functioning
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care
  • Provide education and support to families on child development and psychosocial needs
  • Document patient progress and outcomes
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in human service area, Child Life, Child Development, Child and Family Studies, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Psychology, Recreational Therapy, or related fields from an accredited institution
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of child and adolescent growth and development
  • Two years of experience working with children in a healthcare setting preferred
  • CCLS/CTRS certification and experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous hospital experience or training
  • Clinical internship in progress or internship eligible per ACLP guidelines
