Child Life Fellowship Opportunity

UF Health Shands is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our Child Life team as a Child Life Fellow. This 12-month grant-funded position provides a unique opportunity for new graduates to gain advanced knowledge and skills in the field of Child Life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and coordinate therapeutic programming and supportive services to meet the emotional, developmental, and social needs of hospitalized children.
  • Work under the supervision of the Child Life Director to develop and implement evidence-based interventions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary hospital teams to provide comprehensive care to patients and families.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of child growth and development, family systems, and Child Life theory.
  • Stay up-to-date with medical terminology, diagnosis, and procedures to provide informed care.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Completed 600-hour Child Life Internship preferred.
  • Eligibility to sit for the ACLP national certification exam and successfully pass the exam within one year of hire.
  • Knowledge of basic charting to include assessment, goals, and intervention.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to develop effective working relationships with patients, families, and hospital teams.
