Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Specialist to join our team at Kootenai Health. As an Environmental Services Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide routine daily cleaning of assigned areas, including patient rooms, common areas, and equipment.
  • Utilize knowledge of materials, chemicals, equipment, and action processes in cleaning and maintenance of select areas.
  • Stock closets, service carts, and storerooms with necessary supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness of environmental services equipment and housekeeping closet.
  • Transport waste, recyclables, and biohazard wastes, disposing of them as appropriate.
  • Arrange Kootenai Health meeting rooms as instructed.
  • Maintain laundry carts for units/areas as assigned.
  • Maintain knowledge of environmental services systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact, relate to, work with, and support the activities of a diverse workforce.
  • Recognize and adhere to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
  • Follow all environmental and infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and processes, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous housekeeping experience preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to maintain a standing position.
  • Must be able to stoop, crouch, bend, or twist.
  • Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height.
