Job Description and Duties

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation as an Assistant Deputy Director, Business Services. As a key member of the executive team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, organization, direction, and oversight of four functional areas that support the acquisition of specialty care and temporary relief providers, as well as the Third Party Administrator (TPA) electronic claims processing system and the Inmate Federal Reimbursement Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide executive management, policy formulation, guidance, consultation, oversight, administration, technical assistance, and interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Respond to questions from executive management and oversight agencies.
  • Implement all laws and policies with regard to health care services acquisition, health care invoicing and claims processing, federal reimbursement, data management, and reports.
  • Develop and administer programs to improve the health and well-being of inmates and staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to achieve common goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior executive role, preferably in a government agency or healthcare organization.
  • Proven track record of success in program development, management, and evaluation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.

Working Conditions:

This position is eligible for hybrid telework, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
