Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring product excellence and compliance with industry standards. This position is essential for overseeing quality processes and implementing best practices within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties Include:

  • Develop and submit the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation tailored to specific customer requirements for new product launches.
  • Lead the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiative from program initiation through to the start of regular production (SORP) plus an additional 90 days.
  • Oversee the creation of Control Plans to ensure product quality.
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for assigned commodities, providing support to manufacturing facilities throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Conduct reverse PFMEA during tooling evaluations and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented.
  • Represent the company in discussions with customers to secure PPAP approvals.
  • Facilitate the integration of lessons learned across APQP activities for all manufacturing sites.
  • Contribute to the development of verification and error-proofing methodologies.
  • Communicate internally with Engineering, Purchasing, and Program Management to identify quality improvement opportunities within the supply chain.
  • Recommend enhancements to quality policies and systems.
  • Assist in training plant personnel on quality procedures.
  • Support run-at-rate activities during product launches.
  • Guide plants in utilizing root cause analysis tools (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone) to identify, prevent, and resolve issues during launches.
  • Collaborate with plants to leverage SPC data for monitoring process variations and diagnosing issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Quality Certification is preferred (CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt, CQA, etc.).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality Engineering, with at least 2 years in an automotive manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Participate in and support pre-production virtual and physical builds, addressing root causes of build issues and implementing solutions.
  • Strong understanding of PFMEA and Control Plans, as well as ISO9001 or IATF 16949:2016 Quality Systems.
  • Familiarity with the APQP process.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles related to automated assembly equipment, product assemblies, tooling, fixtures, and gauges.
  • Proven ability to apply problem-solving methodologies effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and influence at all organizational levels.
  • A strong sense of urgency and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Additional Qualifications:

  • College or university program certificate in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Experience in Automotive Electrical Systems is preferred.
  • 5 years of engineering experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Korean is required.
