Position Overview

The role of the Capstone Visiting Professor involves engaging in onsite education within a clinical environment, collaborating closely with our esteemed clinical partners. The typical schedule includes 12-hour shifts (7a-7p) over three to four consecutive days. Capstone Final Clinical Overview: This course is designed to facilitate the transition of students into the nursing profession by examining contemporary trends and issues while providing hands-on nursing experiences. This culminating clinical practicum emphasizes the enhancement of skills in delivering and managing nursing care, all within the framework of legal, ethical, and evidence-based practices. Responsibilities of the Clinical Instructor include: Implementing the College's educational philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through effective clinical teaching and community service. Taking ownership of all independent aspects of individual teaching assignments. Planning clinical experiences and offering direct supervision and assessment of nursing students as they provide care to individuals or groups. Evaluating student performance and providing documented feedback aligned with course objectives. Being available for student remediation as necessary. Staying informed about agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with the support of agency personnel. Creating and assigning written clinical tasks that align with students' knowledge, skills, and individual learning requirements. Timely grading of homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical documentation, and other written work. Potentially teaching didactic course content under the guidance of the course coordinator. Keeping the course coordinator updated on all student and agency-related issues. Reporting to the dean or assistant dean, with direct oversight from a course coordinator. Qualifications You are encouraged to consider this opportunity if you possess: A master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution. An unencumbered professional nursing license in the state of Oregon. An Illinois nursing license, which will be required prior to accepting any clinical contracts. A minimum of two years of professional experience as a registered nurse within the last five years in the relevant instructional area. Preferred experience in teaching or precepting, though not mandatory. A genuine passion for nursing, education, and lifelong learning. Exceptional expertise in the subject matter, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required for teaching at specific clinical partner sites. A commitment to serving students and colleagues with respect and care. The expected compensation for this position ranges from $1,120 to $7,245 per assignment, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
