Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager, the STEM Outreach Coordinator will play a vital role in positively impacting the community by delivering engaging science education to families, thus supporting their vibrant futures. The coordinator will be responsible for designing and implementing STEM-focused educational programs, engaging with diverse communities, and facilitating events both at the museum and at various outreach locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Exemplify and promote the mission of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
  • Actively engage with audiences at the museum and various external venues such as schools and community events.
  • Design, prepare, and implement STEM educational programs.
  • Manage inventory and procure necessary materials for outreach programs.
  • Document expenditures related to program supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of participant attendance and feedback.
  • Oversee the upkeep of outreach vehicles, including monitoring fuel levels and scheduling maintenance.
  • Participate in ongoing training to enhance program delivery and safety protocols.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current in the field.
  • Maintain audio-visual equipment used in educational programs.
  • Exhibit effective time management to ensure successful program execution.
  • Foster interdepartmental communication and collaboration to support organizational growth.
  • Maintain familiarity with all museum programs and their educational content.
  • Assist in various departmental tasks to achieve institutional goals.
  • Availability for weekend and evening work is required.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Community Engagement, or related fields.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years in education, programming, or leadership roles.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to achieve goals while collaborating with various groups.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and civility in a professional environment.
  • Proficient in managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Effective critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in community program facilitation with a focus on STEM.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this role, the employee will be required to:
