Key Responsibilities- Prepare examination rooms for patient visits, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
- Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers, maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with patients and staff.
- Take and record patient vital signs, including temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter reading.
- Obtain and document patient medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies, and vital signs on the correct form.
- Perform diagnostic procedures as ordered by healthcare professionals.
- Maintain examination room stock levels and perform routine maintenance tasks.
- Complete lab and x-ray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies.
- Enter demographic data into the computer system upon patient check-in and update diagnosis and departing time when patients are released.
- Successfully complete Matrix Providers' provided in-services in IV placement, blood and blood administration, and immunization administration prior to assignment of duties.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, draw blood, and start IVs.
- Prepare patients for X-ray procedures.
- Instruct patients about medications and prepare and administer medications as directed by healthcare professionals and Matrix Providers' guidelines.
- Notify patients regarding lab results and other test outcomes as directed.
- Participate in inventory procedures as directed.
- Coordinate with other departments and clinic staff to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Certificate in Medical Assisting from an accredited program.
- Minimum of one year of full-time experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in an outpatient family practice or primary care setting within the last three years.
- Possess certification as a medical assistant from a recognized organization, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologists, American Registry of Medical Assistants, or National Center for Competency Testing.
