Job Summary:

We are seeking a Part Time Food Service Worker to join our team at Wakefield Public Schools. As a Food Service Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our cafeteria.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direct supervision of the Manager and the Assistant Cook Manager to perform routine chores associated with using a cash register and counting money, preparing paperwork, preparing and serving food, and cleaning duties.
  • Perform tasks such as cooking food, slicing meats, peeling and cleaning vegetables, and assisting in other food preparation skills.
  • Serve food, cashier, and count money.
  • General cleaning of kitchen and food preparation surfaces.
  • Lift heavy containers (Max 50 lbs) and trays, and assist in putting deliveries away.

Requirements:

  • High School graduate.
  • Knowledge of general kitchen work.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Able to use a computerized cash register and to work independently.

Working Conditions:

Frequent physical effort demanded in lifting heavy containers, walking, and standing while performing duties under conditions of some discomfort due to heat and cold. Frequent contact with immediate associates and school children.
