About the Role

This position offers a unique opportunity to work in the state of Oregon, visiting and working in various locations. The rotation schedule is 21 days on and 7 days off for out-of-state travelers. A live-out allowance is provided while employed with the True Blue team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Maintenance: Perform proper preparation and splicing of fiber optic cable within telecommunications systems.
  • Technical Expertise: Possess a good working knowledge of telecommunications network structure, familiarity with fiber optic cable, splice enclosures, and equipment functionality.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and troubleshoot problems using OTDR and fusion splicing equipment, read fiber matrices, interpret and analyze data.
  • Reporting and Communication: Complete daily production reports to document work performed, track and communicate daily production and materials.
  • Health and Safety: Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Physical Demands: Lift and manipulate splice enclosures and other plant and equipment, work in cramped and/or enclosed spaces for extended periods, and perform aerial work by ladder, gaffing, or aerial lift device.

Requirements

  • Pre-Access Requirements: Successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol requirements.
  • Driver's License: Possess and maintain a clean driver's abstract and valid full-driver's license appropriate to the requirements of the vehicle being driven.
  • Industry Experience: Combination of work experience and/or technical training in an industry-related trade certification or education program.
  • Low Voltage Installation: Low Voltage or structured cabling installation is an asset.
  • Hand Tool Proficiency: Proficient in the use of hand tools and equipment utilized in splicing fiber.
  • Aerial Work Experience: Experience operating and performing work in a bucket truck, lift, etc. is preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Physical Demands: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including the ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Weather Conditions: Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet) and perform work on uneven surfaces.
  • Travel: This position will require travel through the state of Oregon.
