Pain Management Registered Nurse Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Pain Management Registered Nurse to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our Pain Management Team, you will play a critical role in implementing and managing our Pain Management, Opioid Safety, and Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PMOP) program.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide patient care and coordinate medical treatment for patients experiencing acute and chronic pain
  • Develop and implement care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to influence care outcomes and improve patient satisfaction
  • Administer medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines
  • Engage patients, families, and caregivers to incorporate knowledge, values, and beliefs into care planning
Requirements:
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification before the starting date of the position
