Job Summary

Lhoist North America is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating heavy machinery and equipment to transport raw materials and perform various tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, scrapers, and track hoes to transport raw materials and perform tasks as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with company, state, and governmental health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform pre-shift safety and mechanical checks on equipment and report any defects to supervision.
  • Record loads on operator reports and submit to supervisors at the end of each shift.
  • Support plant operations, pit dewatering, and maintenance activities as directed.
  • Perform related work and clean-up duties as assigned.
  • Report any potential operational or safety problems to supervision.
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work any shift, overtime, be on-call, or work seven days a week if needed.
  • Strong multitasking skills with a sense of urgency to meet customer needs.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and take instructions from management and co-workers.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Basic reading and math skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong record of attendance reliability.
  • Ability to perform the essential job duties required of this position.
Physical Demands
  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
  • Ability to work in extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes, and lime/mineral particles.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Technical training or AA degree in a technical field is desired.
  • 1-2 years of previous heavy manufacturing and/or mining experience is highly preferred.
