Job Summary

VTG is seeking a highly skilled Policy Analyst III to support our government customer in Washington, DC. The position is 100% onsite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policy Analysis: Serve as a policy analyst in the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Counterterrorism, providing expert analysis and recommendations to support the development of effective counterterrorism policies.
  • Interagency Coordination: Liaise with regional and functional bureaus within the Department of State and the interagency to communicate effectively and advance the policy of the Counterterrorism Bureau.
  • Special Projects: Advise the Office Director and Deputy Director on special projects in areas of responsibility, including bilateral and multilateral diplomatic engagements.
  • Research and Briefing: Conduct research, prepare, and review policy papers and briefing checklists on key topics across multiple regional issue sets and across various lines of effort.
  • Event Planning: Support the organization and conduct of conferences and meetings, as assigned.
  • Travel and Representation: Support high-level USG visits and be available for up to 20% overseas travel.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in international studies, political science, national security, foreign policy, humanitarian assistance, foreign assistance, or counterterrorism.
  • State Department Policy Experience: Preferred but policy experience for another federal agency in areas of foreign policy, humanitarian assistance, foreign assistance, or counterterrorism could qualify.
  • Security Clearance: TS/SCI Security Clearance required.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong understanding of the paper process and other procedures at the State Department, ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and ability to brief and work effectively with high-ranking officials.
  • International Experience: Experience engaging in an international context and planning and coordination with interagency or international partners.
What We Offer

VTG offers a competitive salary range of $66,000-$80,000 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations, and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
