Position Summary:

The Area Safety Manager will provide comprehensive safety leadership within a designated region, reporting directly to the Regional Safety Manager or another senior manager within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  2. Proactively present solutions when faced with challenges, contributing positively to the resolution process.
  3. Effectively manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities.
  4. Oversee and mentor other safety professionals or administrative staff as assigned.
  5. Conduct area and job site audits based on identified safety needs and trends in collaboration with the Regional Safety Manager.
  6. Facilitate injury management in conjunction with the Workers' Compensation Manager, establishing area resources and fostering relationships as directed.
  7. Promote a robust safety culture and provide area-level safety leadership.
  8. Engage in safety audits across the organization, ensuring corrective actions are communicated to the Regional Safety Manager and operational management.
  9. Participate in After Action Review (AAR) calls relevant to incidents within the assigned area and coordinate follow-up actions.
  10. Maintain confidentiality in all safety-related matters.
  11. Review operational reports weekly to inform safety planning in collaboration with the Regional Safety Manager.
  12. Assist in training and scheduling as directed by the Regional Safety Manager.
  13. Lead or assist with special projects related to organizational safety initiatives.
  14. Support root cause analysis, investigations, and case management within the assigned area, including field audits and new hire orientation.
  15. Complete monthly expense reports in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  16. Coordinate and respond to OSHA audits as directed.
  17. Collaborate with the Regional Safety Manager on various support efforts.
  18. Report daily safety experiences and inaccuracies to the Regional Safety Manager.
  19. Ensure timely notifications for significant events are communicated to the Regional Safety Manager.
  20. Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Regional Safety Manager or other senior managers.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 5 years of verifiable safety experience with a bachelor's degree in a safety-related field, or at least 7 years of safety experience along with OSHA 500 or other accredited safety certifications (e.g., CSP, ASP, OHS, CHST, CSST, CSHO) is required. Experience in Traffic Control and Confined Space is highly desirable.

The candidate must be willing to travel regionally or nationally as required, including overnight stays. Professional demeanor and communication skills are essential at all organizational levels.

Possession of a valid driver's license and adherence to safe driving practices is mandatory. The role may require on-call availability after hours, weekends, and holidays.

Working Environment:

This position involves working in proximity to moving traffic and machinery under various outdoor conditions, including inclement weather. Physical demands include the ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects, as well as perform tasks requiring good manual dexterity and coordination.

Compensation: $85,000 - $110,000 annually
